Montrose TIRZ Provides Funding for Capital Improvements at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center

HOUSTON, TX (April 22, 2025) – The Montrose TIRZ 27 board approved a budget amendment of $11.5 million for capital improvements at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center on West Gray. The board voted on the amendment at its April 21, 2025 meeting. The funds were previously earmarked for the Freed Library renovation.

The board voted in favor of this much-needed project to benefit all Houstonians and the Montrose Community. This change is being made at the request of both Mayor John Whitmire’s office and District C Council Member Abbie Kamin. Council Member Kamin attended the Board meeting and spoke in favor of the project.

“TIRZ 27 takes great pride in joining the effort to address the much-needed improvements at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center and surrounding amenities that serve a diversity of needs for our city, and we are happy to support this project,” said Matt Brollier, Chair, Montrose TIRZ 27.
