About the Project
The Cherryhurst Sidewalk Improvements project goals are to improve walkability to the bus stops on Westheimer Road while preserving as many trees as possible. The project includes the construction of new 5-ft sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, and driveways in the Cherryhurst neighborhood. It is bounded by Dunlavy Street, Fairview Street, Westheimer Road, and Yupon Street. Funding for the project was awarded to the Montrose TIRZ through a METRO 5310 Grant.
Project Features
- Sidewalk replacement and widening, driveway replacement, wheelchair ramp replacement
- Sidewalk improvements are typically on one side of the street.
- Individualized protection plan for trees along the project route
Sequence of Construction
- Sidewalk work will be completed on one side of the street at a time.
- Construction will be done in a block-to-block sequence.
- Lane closures will only be allowed Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm
Schedule
- Construction may begin as early as January 2026.
- Door hangers will go out approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of construction.
- The duration will be 6 months: 5 month to completion and 1 month for punch list corrections.
